Brooklands Lagoon

The Seafield Park walkway winds its way around the stunning Brooklands lagoon which is a sight you can’t miss!
It’s about 3km to the end in Brooklands and there are several lookout platforms along the way to check out the great views.

The lagoon empties and fills with the tide, which brings in a variety of birds and wildlife, great to get the little ones involved in bird spotting.
Towards the Brooklands end, the Waimakiriri river mouth which connects to the lagoon is deep enough at high tide for some water skiing or knee boarding if you’re up for it.

There is a seasonal wetland just off the Spencer Park recreational area which makes for a lovely short walk. It features a large pond with a board walk over the top of the wetlands themselves, plus a lovely picnic area at the far end for a lunch in the bush.
